Kay said on BBC Radio 1 in September 2006 that a third series of Phoenix Nights had been written, but no date for filming has been set. On May8,2007, Kay made another announcement, stating that a new series would be produced. In late-2009 interviews with The Sentinel and the Croydon Guardian, however, Dave Spikey said that he and fellow co-writer Neil Fitzmaurice were unaware of any intentions to bring the programme back.
