Masked Rider is an Americanized version of the popular Japanese television series Kamen Rider Black RX, which is the ninth installment in the long-running Kamen Rider Series franchise. Saban was the company that was responsible for producing the show, and it was initially broadcast on FOX as part of the Fox Kids program block from September16, 1995 to August31,1996. After that, it was broadcast in syndication from September9, 1996 until September 1997. On May 7, 2010, BVS International handed over the rights to the Masked Rider franchise to SCG Power Rangers. One week prior to the premiere of his own series, the titular main character of Masked Rider appeared in a three-part episode of Power Rangers titled "A Friend in Need." Saban reworked the Masked Rider television series such that it had no more to do with Power Rangers, and as a result, the Rangers themselves were never referenced in the show. However, the Power Rangers did make a cameo appearance in the Masked Rider comic book adaption that Marvel Comics published for a brief period of time.
