Lee David Zlotoff created the American action/adventure television series MacGyver. Executive producers included Henry Winkler and John Rich. From 1985 to1992, the show aired on ABC in the United States and on many other networks across the world for seven seasons. Seasons 1–7 were shot in Los Angeles, whereas seasons 3–6 were shot in Vancouver. The final episode aired on ABC on April 25, 1992. Episode Schedule The sitcom features secret agent Angus MacGyver, played by Richard Dean Anderson, who works as a troubleshooter for the fictional Phoenix Foundation in Los Angeles and as an agent for a fictional United States government organization, the Department of External Services. Educated as a chemist, MacGyer served as a Bomb Team Technician/EOD during the Vietnam War. He solves difficult problems with everyday things he finds on hand, as well as his ever-present duct tape and Swiss Army knife. He favours nonviolent resolutions and prefers not to handle a pistol, but will if necessary.
