It premiered on NBC on September29,2010, as a spin-off of Dick Wolf's successful crime drama Law & Order, and was conceived by Blake Masters. On October18,2010, the show was renewed for a second season. However, on January18,2011, NBC announced that the series will be cancelled indefinitely. According to a production representative, the scheduling change was not completely due to the recent cast shuffle. The network later confirmed that the series would resume on April11,2011, with the last episode airing on July11, 2011. NBC canceled Law & Order: LA on May13, 2011.
