Kingdom is a British television series for the ITV network, created by Parallel Film and Television Productions. It was developed by Simon Wheeler and stars Stephen Fry as Peter Kingdom, a Norfolk solicitor who is dealing with his family, coworkers, and the odd townsfolk who come to him for legal help. Hermione Norris, Celia Imrie, Karl Davies, Phyllida Law, and Tony Slattery also starred in the series. In2007, the first six one-hour programs broadcast, averaging six million viewers per week. Despite a ratings decrease in the middle of the series, ITV's executive chairman lauded the show and ordered a second season, which was shot in 2007 and broadcast in January and February 2008. Filming for the third season took place from July to September2008, with the first episode airing on June7, 2009. In October2009, Stephen Fry announced on his blog that ITV was canceling the series, which was later confirmed by the channel, which stated that more expensive shows were being dropped due to lower funds.
