Kaboul Kitchen is a Canal+-broadcast French comedic television series. Marc Victor, Allan Mauduit, and Jean-Patrick Benes invented it. Based on the true story of Radio France Internationale journalist Marc Victor, who owned a restaurant for French expats in Kabul until 2008, the series is based on his life. The first series debuted on Canal+ on February 15, 2012, and concluded on March 5, 2012. It established a ratings record for primetime comedy series on Canal+. A second season consisting of 12 episodes has been ordered. The series chronicles the lives of Jacky, a French expatriate who operates the famed restaurant Kaboul Kitchen in Kabul, Afghanistan. His daughter Sophie, whom he has not seen in twenty years, arrives to perform humanitarian work, whereas he is solely concerned with making money. At the 2012 Festival International de Programmes Audiovisuels, the series earned two Golden FIPA Awards: one for Best TV Series and one for Best TV Screenplay. It was screened at MIPTV and ranked fourth on The Hollywood Reporter's list of "MIPTV A-List Projects" for the event's most promising series.
