Junior MasterChef is a British television cookery competition televised by the BBC in which children aged nine to twelve compete to be crowned Junior MasterChef. It's a spin-off of the main show MasterChef. Loyd Grossman hosted Junior MasterChef from 1994 to 1999. After a long break, it returned in 2010 with a new format, hosted by writer and actress Nadia Sawalha, a former Celebrity MasterChef finalist and restaurant owner, and professional chef John Torode, who also hosts MasterChef. CBBC Controller Anne Gilchrist commissioned the revived series, which was produced by Shine Television and broadcast on BBC One. In 2012, CBBC commissioned a new series.
