Seven years after her daughter Josefine disappeared by a lake in the woods, Detective Inspector Eva Thörnblad returns to Silver Height. The girl's body was never located, and it was assumed she drowned. Thörnblad wants to know if there is a relation between her daughter's abduction and the disappearance of a boy who has gone missing. Simultaneously, she will look after her father's legacy, the famous entrepreneur Johan Thörnblad, who developed an empire of lumber and timber processing on his family' vast forest. As the story progresses, more children are abducted, and what began as a police drama takes on a sinister and twisted twist with each episode.
