Jonas, formerly marketed as "J.O.N.A.S.", is a Disney Channel Original Series developed by Roger S. H. Schulman and Michael Curtis and starring the Jonas Brothers. The brothers portray the "Lucas Brothers," three members of the fictitious band "JONAS" who want to live a normal life despite their notoriety. The pilot was shot in 2007, however due to the Writers Guild of America strike of 2007–2008, the series was put on hold. The original filming date was scheduled for January2008, but it was moved to September 2008. The series premiered on Disney Channel on May2,2009, and went on-demand on April25, 2009. JONAS is the first Disney Channel Original Series (DCOS) since Phil of the Future that was not filmed in front of a live studio audience or with a laugh track. The sitcom was the first on the network to premiere on a Saturday night, as part of Disney's goal to open up the night to original content and compete with Nickelodeon's historic dominance of the evening. The sitcom is filmed in Hollywood Center Studios and is situated in New Jersey.
