Iron Chef America: The Series is an American cooking show based on Fuji Television's Iron Chef; it is the second American adaptation of the series after the unsuccessful Iron Chef USA. Food Network, which also aired a dubbed version of the original Iron Chef, produces the show. Similar to the original Japanese version, this program is a cooking competition. In each episode, a new challenger chef faces off against one of the resident "Iron Chefs" in a one-hour culinary competition based on a secret ingredient or ingredients, and occasionally a theme. The show is presented as a continuation of the original Iron Chef, rather than a remake. Mark Dacascos, an actor and martial artist, portrays the Chairman. He is introduced as the nephew of the original Japanese chairman, Takeshi Kaga. Alton Brown is the solitary commentator, and Kevin Brauch is the floor reporter. The music is composed by Craig Marks, who released the "Iron Chef America & The Next Iron Chef" soundtrack towards the end of 2010. In addition, Chopped host and regular ICA judge Ted Allen gave additional floor commentary for two special battles: Battle First Thanksgiving and Battle White House Produce.
