Green Acres is an American sitcom about a couple who move from New York City to a farm in the country. Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor play the couple. The series was made by Filmways and was similar to Petticoat Junction. It was first shown on CBS from September 15, 1965, to April 27, 1971. Green Acres ran for six years and had good ratings. It was cancelled in 1971 as part of CBS's "rural purge." The sitcom has been shown in many places and is on DVD and VHS. In 1997, "A Star Named Arnold Is Born," a two-part episode, was ranked #59 on TV Guide's list of the 100 best episodes of all time.
