Good Luck Charlie is a Disney Channel sitcom that premiered on April 4, 2010. Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen devised the series with the goal of creating a show that will appeal to entire families rather than just children. It follows the Duncans, a Denver family, as they prepare for the arrival of their fourth and fifth children, Charlotte "Charlie" Duncan and Toby Duncan. Teddy Duncan prepares a video diary for Charlie in each episode, giving advice about their family and life as a teenager. Teddy wants to show Charlie in the video diaries what she might go through when she's older for future reference. Each video diary concludes with Teddy delivering the eponymous phrase, "Good luck, Charlie." Executives incorporated adult-centric sequences and altered the series title from Oops to Love, Teddy, and finally to Good Luck Charlie to ensure the programme would appeal to all family members. On April 4, 2010, Good Luck Charlie debuted on the Disney Channel in the United States. It premiered on April 5, 2010, in Canada, on May 14, 2010, in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and on July 23, 2010, in Australia and New Zealand. Good Luck Charlie was renewed for a second season, with production kicking off in August 2010 and the season premiering on February 20, 2011. A feature-length Christmas Disney Channel Original Movie based on the series, Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas!, began production in March 2011 for a December 2011 premiere.
