Discovery Channel's Fight Quest premiered on December28, 2007 and began broadcasting weekly on January4, 2008. The show followed Jimmy Smith and Doug Anderson as they traveled the world learning different kinds of martial arts. They spent five days training with prominent masters of the genres they were studying before demonstrating what they had learned. According to the hosts, the show ended after one season. A new DVD box set was released in February with the final three episodes. The series was terminated at the start of its second season, with the last episode airing on October3, 2008.
