Eric Robles created Fanboy & Chum Chum for Nickelodeon. It's based on Fanboy, a Nickelodeon and Frederator Studios animated short that aired on Random! Cartoons on August 14, 2008. 5.8 million people tuned in to watch the series debut. 5.4 million people tuned in for the second episode. Experimental punk band The Mae Shi performed the theme tune, which was composed by Brad Joseph Breeck. At Nickelodeon's 2013-2014 upfront presentation, no third season was announced.
