Family Feud is an American game show in which two families compete in naming the most popular responses to a survey question presented to 100 individuals. The show was conceived in the United States by Mark Goodson and Bill Todman, and it now airs in a variety of local forms around the world. Family Feud has broadcast for 30 seasons in a row since it first debuted in 1976. The show debuted on ABC in 1976 and was hosted by Richard Dawson until1985, when it was terminated after becoming popular on the network and in syndication. The show was revived by CBS in 1988 with Ray Combs as presenter, and in 1992 it was enlarged to an hour-long format before being cancelled in 1993. Combs also hosted the syndicated show until1994, when he was replaced by Dawson for one season, during which the show extended to an hour-long format before being terminated in 1995. Louie Anderson, Richard Karn, and John O'Hurley were the hosts of later editions. Family Feud has been hosted by comedian and actor Steve Harvey since the 2010–11 television season. The show's ratings were claimed to have risen dramatically under Harvey's leadership. Family Feud's ratings were believed to have risen by 40% from the previous year, when John O'Hurley was the host. The fast-rising game show averaged a 4.0 rating for the 2011–12 season, making it the 5th highest rated show in syndication. Family Feud has consistently been the second highest rated show on daytime television since the 2012–13 season. It was voted #3 on TV Guide's list of the 60 greatest game shows of all time in 2013.
