Degrassi High is the third installment in the Degrassi series of teen dramas and follows the lives of a group of Canadian students who reside on or near De Grassi Street in Toronto, Ontario. It aired for the first time from 1989 to 1991 and followed the students from The Kids of Degrassi Street and Degrassi Junior High into high school. The production took place in downtown Toronto and at Centennial College. Similar to its predecessor, Degrassi High addressed contentious topics such as AIDS, abortion, abuse, alcoholism, infidelity, sex, death and suicide, dating, depression, bullying, gay rights, homophobia, racism, the environment, drugs, and eating disorders. The September 2007 issue of u're Magazine examines the influence of the performance on Canadian identity.
