Amanda's was inspired by Fawlty Towers. Amanda's broadcast on ABC Thursdays at 8:30 from 10 February to 26 May 1983. Amanda Cartwright, played by Bea Arthur. Amanda owned "Amanda's by the Sea" with her son Marty, his spoiled wife Arlene, Earl the chef, and Aldo the bellhop. Bea Arthur's first TV series since 1978's Maude. Jerry Stiller, Leonard Stone, and Todd Susman also appeared. The show was filmed at ABC Studios in Hollywood, 4151 Prospect Avenue. Amanda's was cancelled in May 1983 after ten episodes and three unaired episodes. A&E soon aired reruns.
