Julie, who lives in Salon-de-Provence, a beautiful town in the south of France, has been depressed for some time now. He would stop at nothing to get his wife, Philippe Abrams, a postmaster, a job in a coastal resort on the French Riviera. The problem is that he was caught in the act of attempting to defraud an inspection. Philippe is promptly sent to the obscure town of Bergues in the far north of France. Philippe is exiled.
