Chloe, a student filmmaker who has been stranded in the suburbs, begins work on a documentary about her family's tumultuous past. During the course of their filming, she and her closest friend Ed observe a frightened girl appear to escape from a neighbor's house, only to be hauled back inside by the security guards. Is she a drug addict in remission, as her neighbors claim she is? If so, is she actually in risk from people who claim to be looking out for her best interests? The two of them proceed to conduct surveillance, but as they delve further into the matter, they find themselves entangled in a world of bizarre ideas, ancient cults, and black witchcraft. Their hunt for the truth will culminate in a live webcast that will both terrify and cause those watching to question the very veracity of what they are witnessing in real time.
