Regent Horthy is the head of Hungary and a German ally, but as the war draws to a close, his positive relationship with Hitler begins to deteriorate. After being forced to resign control of Hungary or face witnessing the execution of his son, Regent Horthy surrenders control of his country to the Nazis, who swiftly deport Hungarians to ghettos and concentration camps with no prospect for survival. However, when a young man named Elek appears, the despair is replaced with hope. Elek, who has been separated from his family during the relocations and who is supported by the woman he loves, opposes the enemy by adopting the appearance of one of them. In a desperate race against time, he disguises himself as a Nazi officer and goes on a quest to save his family and thousands of his compatriots from certain death.
