Llus (Marcel Borràs), a young republican officer destined for a position that is currently vacant, meets Carlana (Niria Prims), an intriguing widow with whom she falls in love and who manages to deceive him into falsifying a document that declares her the lady of the area. In exchange for not revealing him, Llus' best friend, the Soleràs (Oriol Pla), a degraded officer, uncovers the fraud and asks that he relocate away from the bombings of Barcelona, where he has a son and a wife, with whom he has a secretly romantic relationship.
