A conflict between new government forces and shogunate soldiers is about to erupt in Edo, Japan, in 1868. A peace envoy is sent to Takamori Saig by Katsu Kaishu (Hiroshi Tamaki) in an attempt to avoid needless bloodshed; nevertheless, Katsu Kaishu is unsuccessful in his attempts. A chance encounter with high school teacher Mikako (Satomi Ishihara) and her pupil Masaya, who is fascinated with the shogunate, brings Katsu Kaishu and Mikako together. In front of Katsu Kaishu, Mikako and her student Masaya inform him that they are from the future. Mikako and her student Masaya are cared for by Katsu Kaishu, while Mikako wishes to return to the future, where she believes she will find happiness.
