After a legal battle between director Michael Powell and producer David O. Selznick, Gone to Earth (1950) was recut. Selznick's changes include: (1) A prologue. (2) Labeling or inscribing scenes to clarify things. (3) More Jennifer Jones close-ups. He also cut several scenes he felt were too mundane. Sadly, several of them were significant storyline pieces, and the story no longer makes sense.
