The O'Neills were happy in their house in the Australian countryside. That was until one day, Peter, the father, was killed by a random act of fate, leaving his grief-stricken wife Dawn alone with their four children. Simone, who is eight years old, is one of those who doesn't believe this is true. She is sure that her father still lives in the big fig tree near their house and talks to her through the leaves. But the tree gets more and more in the way and threatens the house. It must be taken down. Simone will not let it happen, of course.
