Director Nick Ryan's film, The Summit, is a 2012 documentary on the 2008 K2 disaster that was released in 2012. In this movie, there is a mix of real footage and dramatizations of the events of the K2 disaster in 2008. Eleven climbers lost their lives in a short period of time on their way to and from the summit, causing one of the biggest catastrophes in climbing history. It was a Swedish mountaineer named Fredrik Sträng who took a lot of the footage. Sträng planned to make a documentary, but it was scrapped because he didn't make it to the top. In light of the fact that each climber had a unique account of what transpired, the video was nevertheless an asset in the investigation.
