The Reluctant Debutante
Hello, Jimmy and Sheila Broadbent, and welcome to London. Jane, Jimmy's seventeen-year-old daughter Jane is the daughter of Jimmy's previous marriage, which was to an American, and she has come to see her father and step-mother, whom she has never met before. While Jane is in town, Sheila has the bright idea of turning her into a debutante, which Jane strongly opposes. Jane's apathy toward being placed on the marriage market, Sheila's cousin Mabel Claremont's determined efforts to win wealthy David Fenner for her debutante daughter Clarissa, and Jane's attraction to David Parkson, an American drummer who plays in the orchestra at the coming-out balls, are just a few of the challenges she faces.
