Arthur Bishop is a seasoned hitman who considers himself an artist due to his penchant for making his victims' deaths appear accidental. It's made him very wealthy, but as he reaches middle age, he becomes so depressed and lonely that he hires one of his victims' sons, Steve McKenna, as an apprentice. Arthur puts him through rigorous training and exposes him to several hits. Arthur is concerned that as Steven improves, he will learn who murdered his father.
