Cetarti is drowning in a sea of emptiness. He spends his days indoors, watching documentaries on television, until one day he receives word that his mother and brother have been shot to death. He travels from Buenos Aires to Lapachito, a run-down village in the province of Chaco in northern Argentina, to deal with their remains and collect the money from their life insurance policies. The place where he meets Duarte, a sort of town boss who also happens to be a buddy of his mother's murderer and who kidnaps people for cash. To get his hands on the insurance money, Cetarti will resort to criminal means. He will also become embroiled in Duarte's nefarious activities, resulting in an absurd and unexpected end result for everyone.
