The nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games every year in the ruins of what was once North America. Tributes compete in the Hunger Games, a nationally broadcast event in which they must battle to the death until only one is left standing at the end of the competition. Katniss is forced to rely on her quick instincts and the tutelage of a boozed-up former winner, Haymitch Abernathy, as she takes on Tributes who have been preparing for these Games their entire lives. Katniss must choose between life and death in the arena if she ever hopes to return to District 12 and see her beloved Peeta. The entire globe is going to be watching this..
