Paula McFadden, a musical dancer on her way out (at 36), had a good time with actor Tony DeSanti, but instead of taking her to Hollywood, he gets a part in a European film. He even sublets their (his) New York apartment to Elliot Garfield, who graciously allows her to stay, even taking over the master bedroom. Lucy, Paula's pragmatic pre-teen daughter, quickly falls for his charm, but Paula remains adamantly opposed to all actors.
