David, a former New York Times reporter, and his weird new neighbor Robert strike a girl on her bike. Buzzed and disoriented, David allows Robert convince him to leave the girl for dead to safeguard his career. Robert has no remorse and performs awful things to keep the secret. Now that the police are seeking for the hit-and-run killer, things spiral out of hand when David's local newspaper sends him to cover the story. He meets the murdered girl's sister, Vanessa. Despite the circumstances and her determination to locate her sister's killer, the two share an instant sexual connection that surprises and disturbs David and pushes Robert to take violent steps to keep his new companion to himself.
