Suffering under the tyrannical rule of Rudolf II in 16th-century Prague, a Talmudic rabbi creates a giant warrior to shield the security of his people. Sculpted of clay and computer animated by the mystical tricks of the Cabala, the Golem was a relatively undestroyable juggernaut, doing acts of wonderful heroism, yet equally with the ability of distressing physical violence. When the rabbi's aide takes control of the Golem and tries to utilize him for selfish gain, the lumbering monster runs rampant, kidnaping the rabbi's daughter and also setting fire to the ghetto.
