Phuong Ly, a poor but beautiful Vietnamese woman, falls in love with a handsome, kind, and affluent guy who expresses an interest in marrying her and taking her hand in marriage. Her life appears to be great until her boyfriend's mother decides to deliberately undermine their marriage. Phuong Ly, who has been heartbroken and emotionally unstable, arrives to Ho Chi Minh City to work as a cleaner at a marriage agency. It is there that she meets Mitch, a man who is looking for an arranged marriage. He develops a deep romantic interest in her and coerces her into marrying him on the premise that he will assist her family in Vietnam and that she will have a better life as a result of their union. Phuong Ly, on the other hand, quickly knows that she has been transported to America as a slave as soon as she lands in the country. She is being assaulted and abused, and she has little possibility of escaping. The only ray of hope she has is the link she forms with the American's young, autistic niece; both of them are prisoners who must find a way to get out of their situation.
