The General
In the midst of America's Civil War, Union spies kidnap engineer Johnnie Gray's cherished locomotive The General-with his lady love, Annabelle Lee, aboard an attached boxcar-and he must do everything in his ability to both recover The General and save Annabelle Lee. In1927, this Silent comedy-action film was released in most of the world. Although it first failed to find success, it is today considered to be one of the greatest American movie pictures. Several historical occurrences serve as the basis for the story.
