Barney, Christmas, and the rest of the crew eventually come face to face with Conrad Stonebanks, who, along with Barney, was one of the co-founders of The Expendables. In the years that followed, Stonebanks evolved into a vicious arms dealer and became someone that Barney believed he was obligated to eliminate. Stonebanks, who had a previous brush with death, is now making it his goal to put an end to The Expendables, but Barney has other ideas in mind. Barney comes to the conclusion that the only way to beat old blood is with new blood, thus he starts a new generation of Expendables team members by recruiting people who are younger, faster, and more knowledgeable about technology. In the Expendables' next mission, which has become their most personal conflict to date, there is a showdown between traditional, old-school tactics and modern, high-tech competence.
