One day, a priest who is there on a covert assignment stops by a little town on his way to somewhere else. He is a member of the Inquisition who has been tasked with investigating the actions of a miller in the area. The miller and his son are descendants of an old family. Their ancestral home was destroyed by fire a century ago, but it was rebuilt entirely from the ground up. The miller's family had been in the business for centuries, so he inherited a significant amount of their expertise regarding the land, the water, and the stability of buildings. His reputation for locating water and forecasting when a structure would collapse has brought him to the attention of the Inquisition; they are certain that he must be working with the devil. His ability to discover water has also brought him to the attention of the Inquisition.
