The Big Country
Jim McKay, a wealthy retired sea captain, travels to the great West to marry his fiancée Pat Terrill. McKay is a man whose morals and way of life are a mystery to the ranchers, and foreman Steve Leech dislikes him right once. Major Henry Terrill, Pat's wealthy father, is spoiled, selfish, and in charge of her life. The Major is fighting a brutal civil war with a rough-hewn tribe commanded by Rufus Hannassey over cow watering rights. Julie Maragon owns the land in question, and Terrill and Hannassey are interested in buying it.
