The Big Blue
In this romantic fantasy-adventure, two guys answer the pull of the ocean. Since boyhood, Jacques and Enzo have shared a fascination for the perilous sport of free diving. Professional diver Jacques chose to follow in the footsteps of his father, who died at sea when Jacques was a child; to the bewilderment of scientists, Jacques possesses a remarkable ability to adjust his heart rate and breathing pattern in the water, so that his vital signs more closely resemble that of dolphins than that of humans (he even considers a school of dolphins as his extended family). As Enzo persuades a reluctant Jacques to participate against him in a free diving competition — deciding who can dive deeper and longer without scuba equipment — Jacques meets Johana, a gorgeous American insurance investigator, and must choose between his love for her and his love of the water.
