In 2005, South Korean director Yasuwa Minyeo released a romantic comedy film titled The Beast and the Beauty (Yasuwa minyeo). In the film, the voice actor Dong-gun (Ryu Seung-beom) is involved with his blind girlfriend Hae-ju (Shin Min-a), who is unexpectedly given surgery to restore her vision. After lying to Hae-ju about his appearance, the beastly Dong-gun decides to go to extreme lengths to alter his appearance, while telling Hae-ju that he will return shortly after. While this is going on, Hae-ju runs into Joon-ha (Kim Kang-woo), Dong-high gun's school acquaintance, whose appearance is identical to that of Dong-gun as recounted to Hae-ju, and misidentifies him as Dong-gun. The result is hilarity, and Dong-gun finds himself trying to keep the love of the lady he adores.
