Each filmmaker adapts a Poe short tale for the screen: "Toby Dammit" stars a disheveled, intoxicated, and inebriated English movie star who receives nods of approval from the Italian press and adoration from his producers. "Metzengerstein" is about a Mediveal countess who has a love-hate relationship with a black stallion who turns out to be her deceased lover. "William Wilson" is about a nasty Austrian student who has an identical twin whom he subsequently murders.
