Flor Moreno, an illegal immigrant from Mexico and a single mother, secures a job as a housekeeper with Deborah and John Clasky, a wealthy married couple who also have two children of their own. After Flor confesses that she is unable to manage the schedule due of the demands placed on her by her daughter Cristina, Deborah makes the decision that they should move into the Clasky residence. As Flor and the Claskys struggle to share space while simultaneously bringing up their children in their own, very different ways, cultures come into conflict and tensions rise to a high level.
