Kumiko is a second-year student and one of the euphonium section's senior players. Kumiko will have to learn new skills to deal with awkward and challenging underclassmen as new underclassmen join the concert band. She was chosen to head the new underclassmen members alongside third-year trumpeter Tomoe Kabe. Among the new members of Kumiko's bass section are euphonist Kanade Hisaishi, whose outward appearance is deceptive; tuba player Mirei Suzuki, who is having difficulty adjusting to her new environment; tuba player Satsuki Suzuki, who wishes to get along with Mirei; and double bassist Motomu Tsukinaga, who is unable to speak about himself. Between the Sunrise Festival, the chair placement auditions, and the competition, a slew of complications swiftly arise.
