A high school guidance counselor and his platonic coworker, Anne, are responsible, well-intentioned, and kind... but dull. It is frustrating to watch their friends find love and friendship, while they continue to fail spectacularly in the area of romance. In the latter stages of loneliness, people agree to give up their familiar, cookie-cutter personas in favor of their undiscovered, confident alter egos in order to overcome their isolation. Summer nights packed with booze, dancing, and sex are here, and Jeff and Anne can finally say goodbye to their awkward all-male book club and Anne's fumbling attempts to attract Jeff's attractive neighbor Max. As is to be expected, things don't always go as planned.
