Jennifer, a young woman who is preoccupied with herself, gets into an argument with her sick mother, and later that evening, the adolescent finds herself unwittingly inside of a local shelter for the homeless. Infuriated by his daughter's callous behavior, Jennifer's father issues an ultimatum to his daughter, which requires her to work as a volunteer at the local shelter. He does this in the hope that she will eventually learn to be responsible and empathetic toward other people. Jennifer gains a greater comprehension of the significance of love and family over the holiday season as a direct result of this new experience, which enables her to form an improbable link not just with the employees but also with one very special young visitor.
