Audie Murphy comes back as the youngster who dons a badge in order to apprehend the evil guy, who is expertly played by Barry Sullivan. On the walk back to town, the two form an unusually strong bond - Sullivan forgoes multiple opportunities to escape away - but in the end, Sullivan "asks for it," and Murphy gives it to him.
