Pit Stop
Rick Bowman, a drag racing street punk, comes to the attention of Grant Willard, a successful businessman. Upon his release from prison, Willard extends him an offer of sponsorship to drive in the NASCAR stock car series. Figure eight racing is a demolition derby-related sport that Bowman accepts and participates in. Hawk Sidney, the brash hotshot who rules the figure eight course, is the reigning champion. Bowman and Sidney have a falling out, and Hawk's attractive companion Jolene falls prey to Bowman's seduction. With Ellen McLeod, wife of great racer Ed McLeod, in his sights, Bowman's attention switches. In the course of his career, Bowman's respect for his colleagues and friends diminishes, giving place to an obsessive desire to become the best possible.
