Mary and Max
A story about Mary, an eight-year-old girl who lives alone in the suburbs of Melbourne, and Max, a forty-four-year-old man who lives in New York and is very overweight. In the mid-1970s, an Australian girl of 8 years old who doesn't have any friends picks a name out of a phone book in Manhattan and writes to him. She includes a chocolate bar with her letter. He responds with chocolate and a letter. So begins a 20-year exchange of letters. Will they ever see each other?
