Lourdes
Christine is a wheelchair-bound woman suffering from severe multiple sclerosis. To escape her loneliness, she travels to Lourdes, the famed pilgrimage destination in the Pyrenees Mountains, with other persons with varied disabilities. During her stay, she gradually regains use of her limbs. This is in contrast to others, who appear to have more faith than Christine yet only experience minor, transient improvement. Her other pilgrims are anxious to declare it a miracle; yet, when the pilgrimage comes to an end, it becomes unclear how accurate this claim is.
