During a night of backwoods raving and teen mischief in present-day Texas, Maya (Tallie Medel) and her on-again, off-again girlfriend Jules (Betsy Holt) wreck their car, causing them to lose their jobs. A divorced oil worker named Freddy (Robert Longstreet) rescues them from the debris, and his hardened exterior fractures as he begins to recognize himself and his suppressed passions in the character of Maya. In the meantime, Maya and Freddy form a bond that helps them cope with the terrible stillness of their small-town life. They work together to quietly encourage one another to pursue what they are most passionate about (or at least figure out what that might be).
