Documentary filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky's (El Topo, Holy Mountain, Santa Sangre) attempt to convert the iconic science fiction novel Dune into a feature picture is the subject of this film, which was shot in France, England, Switzerland, and the United States. The gigantic undertaking, which had taken two years and millions of dollars to complete, eventually came crashing down, but the artists whom Jodorowsky had recruited for the renowned project continued to collaborate. This collection of artists, or his "warriors," as Jodorowsky dubbed them, went on to define modern science fiction cinema with films like Alien, Blade Runner, Star Wars, and Total Recall, among many others.
